One Focus

"Perhaps every person is a victim of preoccupation and distraction."- Gary Cleveland

I appreciate that fact I read this on a recent blog by my good friend and I immediately though about something else. Then I said to myself, "What did I just do?" Just like all of you I get distracted from time and time. I may be watching a baseball game, but flip channels just to see what is on the other channels. I often read more than one book at a time. I need to keep busy and I love the internet because I can switch from a theological discussion on one page and an article about Andrew Luck on ESPN.com on another page. Then I might check my balance on my Debit Card and check my e-mail before I watch a movie on Netflix. This is the world where I live a world with 15 second televisions and thousands of ads popping on my Macbook everyday. Anyway my point is: my world not one that I sit and wait often. I do not take time to let my mind focus on one thing very much. I think of 4 or 5 at a time.
I live with distraction and preoccupation.

The year is 2012. Some say it is the end of the world, yet I stay my world will keep going. I want to be a person of focus in 2012. I want to take more time to be in prayer and only prayer. I want to read, one book at a time. I want to be focused on one thing at a time. I want to live in one place, not two or three. I will continue to wear many hats; student, minister, teacher, and friend. Yet, I was to be in the moment. Whatever that moment is. I believe if I start writing more I will enjoy life more. This is one thing that will help me focus.

My life has a purpose and that purpose to bless people with my words and works. I believe I need goals in order to grow. I am an organized and driven person and I am a type- A personality that likes neatness and simplicity. Hopefully, but focusing on this blog and on this new perspective I will grow spiritually and emotionally.

One purpose. One mind. One life.

Let the journey of 2012 begin.
